Hooked on Love: Free Valentine’s Crochet Projects

As Valentine's day approaches I thought I'd share a new free heart design with you. Using Aldi's chunky yarn (which just happened to fall into my basket while doing the food shop!) I created a simple Sweetheart cushion. The cushion is made with a 8mm hook and uses bobble stitches to form the heart design. It’s a quick project and works up faster than you might expect, making it ideal for a last-minute Valentine make or a cosy home accessory.

The free pattern is available below.

To go with the Sweet heart Cushion I also made a Sweetheart Blanket - using more Aldi yarn again - only this time their supersoft baby chenille yarn. This blanket has 2 different bobble heart designs. Again using a 8mm hook - it's a fast blanket to make - this one took me just over 4 hours, so it's perfect for a last minute gift - plus its so soft and cuddly!

If you're looking for more heart inspired designs you might also like -

Or my Cwtch blanket - a wrap around blanket designed to feel like a great big hug!

Don't forget about my free Valentine's Gonk pattern!

What's Next On The Hook?/ Which WIP Am I Tackling Next!...... I’ve also been using up leftover yarn by making rose blankets, which has helped clear out lots of small balls of green and white. It’s been really satisfying to free up some space in the wool room.

Next, I’ve started working on new cat squares for my Peek A Boo Cat Blanket. Hopefully I’ll have more to share in a few weeks. Let me know what colour cat you’d like to see next.

A Book-Inspired Crochet Project

One of my goals this year was to read more, so I joined a local book club in January. Around the same time, I came across a crochet book blanket idea on Instagram, where granny squares are made using colours inspired by each book.

I’ve started my own version and have completed three squares so far, based on The Names and Circe and All the Colours are Dark. I’m currently reading The Coffin Maker's Garden.

Let me know if you have any good book suggestions or if you are also making a book blanket.

In The Shop.......

New patterns in the shop this month include

Shine Bright Scarf – made from small granny squares with mandala-style centres, using bright, vibrant merino yarn

Whispering Frost Shawl – a simple design using DC stitches, worked in alpaca for a soft and cosy finish.
